Cato Manor Soccer Tournament kicks off

Japan and South Korea might be hosting the Soccer World Cup, but the soccer fever is at the Cato Manor Sports ground where the Cato Manor Floating Trophy is being contested.

Zakhele United Football Club from Ensimbini are making their first appearance at the soccer tournament.	Cato Crest United are hoping that their luck will change in this years’ competition.
Chesterville Extensions Madiba Magic are hoping their opponents will be spellbound as they make it to the finals.	Beer United from New Dunbar join in the fun at the soccer tournament.

Thirty teams have registered despite fears of a poor turn out because of the FIFA World Cup that is currently underway.
"We’ve had to delay some games to accommodate the World Cup but we are glad that the spirit of the tournament was not affected,"said Vusi Nduli, president of the newly formulated Cato Manor Soccer Association.
This is the last time this tournament is played under the auspices of the Cato Manor Development Association through European Union funding.
The winning team will take home a new soccer kit of their choice while runners up will receive medals.
The tournament organisers have adopted a similar system as used in the World Cup where teams are drawn in groups with the two teams finishing on top of their group advancing to the knockout stages.
