Celebrating
and
commemorating
the role of women

“Whether
you function in the corporate workplace, are considering starting
your own business, or whether you are currently operating
a small business – YOU HAVE NOT REACHED YOUR FULL POTENTIAL.”
This
is the message which forms the core theme of the National
Women in Business and Management conference.
More than 200 women are expected to attend the conference
in Durban on Friday 16 November 2001 at the ICC.
The aim of the series of conferences is to inform women who
are starting their own business of the opportunities and financial
resources available to them, and also address the challenges
and legislative issues facing women in public and private
sector management.
These events are sponsored by Khula Enterprise Finance Limited.
Other sponsors include ABSA New Enterprise Banking and Rhema
Ministeries. Khula’s CEO, Sizwe Tati, says his organisation
is determined to provide whatever is necessary and in their
power to alleviate social inequality and rampant poverty in
the country. “One of our chief goals is to put people back
at the centre of economic policy making,” he said.
Stafford Cammay of Kiyaka Event Management - organisers of
the conference - said the support from sponsors underline
the importance of events of this nature.
“In hosting the events, we want to ensure that women from
grassroots level to corporate management level have the opportunity
to interact, learn and benefit from the input of the prestigious
faculty of speakers lined up for the conferences.
“The commitment by government to assist women entrepreneurs
is a concerted effort to economically empower this marginalised
sector of our society. We as conference organisers see ourselves
as a catalyst to bring vital information which will assist
women entrepreneurs and women in public and private sector
management, to reach their full potential.”
Ms Cammay said this event offers constructive advice on the
institutional and governmental support available to these
women. The programme incorporates case studies of successful
entreprenuers who will be happy to share their secrets with
attendees.
The public and private sector management stream addresses
the rights of women in the corporate environment, and offers
high powered inspiration for refining and enhancing your individual
style for greater success.
This series of events boasts speakers from the Commission
on Gender Equality, Khula Enterprise Finance Limited and Ntsika,
and also the National Manager for ABSA New Enterprise Banking.
Other dynamic presentations will be heard from the SABC, Johnnic
and Pamela Oakes, a motivational and inspirational speaker
from the USA.
